“Breeze II” Artist’s Statement-I love my Northern California landscape-it gives me daily joy. The slightest breeze brings movement to the grasses. I hope to capture the beauty, movement and texture that I enjoy on my daily morning stroll.
I created this piece based on the Stipa Gigantea that grows 6′ tall in my backyard. I used cotton sateen, 2 layers of cotton/poly batting, cotton and silk thread.
The background was free motion quilted first and the grasses added after. This can be two-sided quilt-back is black with light gray silk thread.
Held in a private collection.
