Pioneer Quilters Guild Show
I visited the Pioneer Quilters Guild Show and Boutique on Friday. I made quite a haul at the boutique-did I get any Christmas presents?? Heck no, but I got some great stuff for…me!
Right when I walked in this quilt caught my eye. It’s a great mix of Kaffe Fassett, batiks and other colorful fabrics. This king-size quilt hung dead straight, no wave-a rare sight. Great collaboration between Mary Hammarin and quilter Lana LaPlante. This sweet quilt by Diana Meier combined appliqued yoyos and 4-patches, a combination I have not seen before-charming! What a riot of color and flowers-you can’t help but smile! My photo only showed the quilter, Deb Dolce-sorry I did not get the title or maker.Margo Wilson fussy cut these adorable scenes and combined them with a great theme fabric for this sweet quilt. You could not stand in front of it without going “awwww”! I loved the handwork embellishment.Someday when I grow up I am going to know how to combine fabulous large scale prints to make a great quilt like this! Made by LuEtta Luman.I don’t think I’ve ever seen a quilt like this. Joan Noell made a true 2-sided quilt with 2 completely different patterns-beautiful! Quilted by Lin Squires. The cross hatched quilting by maker/quilter Sylvia Zeng adds great dimension to this beauty. I especially enjoyed the quilting in the ecru colored patches.Maker/Quilter Lana LaPlante used fun, vibrant colors for this beautifully appliqued quilt. It’s just such a riot of whimsy and her vibrant quilting really adds to the fun feel of the quilt. And yes, all those perfect circles are hand appliqued!Quilt shows don’t corner the market on beauty. Case in point: of all places to run into such a lovely combination of plants-the mall! I loved the combination of the spikey, vibrant green Asparagus Fern with pure white Geraniums! Hope you can find beauty in your everyday world too.
