Yet Another Learning Curve-Done!

November 14, 2011

Okay, I’m done! I figure there were over 7 hours of ripping on this one. One Big Take-Away: Each design decision takes on great impact in such a small piece. The margin of error was tiny-one bad thread color, one little motif decision and the entire piece was diminished.

I am NOT a perfectionist! Yet I spent a lot of time removing stitches because the wrong thread or motif just shouted on this piece. The piece is 15″ square-it’s a study for a larger piece I want to make.I started to “wing it” on the parallel lines on the outside of the border and had to rip that out too-it was way too wonky. So I went in and marked a line every couple of inches to keep my lines straight. If you looked closely on the outside parallel lines, you would see my Visible Learning Curve, but that’s okay. Of course, all that ripping did not come without a price-I left a little of my DNA on the back, giggle. The following shows the back with a little spot of blood-I’ll get that out in a minute. Now it’s on to all the prep for the Birthday/Anniversary Month-SEVEN between Nov 9 and Dec 3! I have included a gratuitous photo of the view to the park from my front porch. Fall is subtle here and this is “peak” for us-I’ll take what I can get!

The finished product is worth the “blood, sweat and tears”, Jenny. Beyond beautiful. Can’t wait to see your next endeavor.
