Superior University/Fabric Cards
Late last year I joined Superior University, a yearlong series of lessons and activities hosted by Superior Threads-it sounded like fun! A monthly charge ($17) covers supplies and shipping for each project which should take 60-90 minutes. You can join any time. Of course they are creating projects that use their products and I’m fine with that-I’m a fan!
This month’s project is a greeting card and it’s just the coolest thing! I have already gotten the fabric postcard bug from Franki Kohler, author of “Fast, Fun and Easy Fabric Postcards“. Now making fabric greeting cards would allow me to send something for those times when I wanted to write a little more than I could on a postcard. Between the two, now I can send a fabric card for any occasion. 
I started off with a large scale print Kaffe Fassett fabric and oriented it so that it produced a pleasing frame. I tried gluing the beads but ended up sewing them on securely. I started with Superior Kimono Silk thread but that left the card a little dull so I added the variegated Superior Metallic thread. That made a huge difference-gave it the pop that it needed.
It’s a pretty simple process and I made my mistakes. The card stock wrinkled (too much glue) and one of the corners is a little tortured. Also, I didn’t follow their directions (thought I was smarter than them-hah!)) and I used a card stock base that was too thick so my thread tension was a bit off.
I can see myself having fun making quick little fabric cards and post cards and trying new techniques or designs on them. I had fun, I like the product, and next time it will be even better!

Yes, I was surprised. The projects so far really are fun and short and you learn something-seems to be well designed. Superior really seems to be a great company-love their products.

So fun to see you smitten with fabric postcards! :) I would bag the cardstock in favor of Timtex or fast2fuse which you can stitch through without a problem. And BTW, you can never have too many beads.
I like the fast2fuse but the cardstock is easy to write on. I am just beginning this journey…and it’s your fault! Now I need a bead inventory???
It’s perfect time to make some plans for the future and it’s time to be happy.
