A Chuckle
Recently a former student sent an e-mail to me with this in the subject line: “Was I supposed to take it out of the package first??“. She enclosed the following photo (the packaging you see in the photo is for the “Supreme Slider” which makes quilting easier):Her explanation follows:
“I had to share this photo with you because you always say you’ve made every possible mistake…I bet you haven’t made this one!
Because I am very bad about cleaning up my sewing area, this item accidentally slid under the piece I was quilting – now I’ve done similar things before like getting a piece of the quilt back folded under and quilting it that way, but when I realized my poor machine was awfully noisy and stopped to see what the trouble was I had to crack up at the phrase “machine quilting is easy…with a Superslider”.”
She’s right-I haven’t made this mistake-yet! And what a delightful attitude towards the whole thing-that light hearted attitude is key to moving forward and becoming a great quilter. She was doing some really nice quilting there!!

¡Qué lástima de acolchado tan bonito!
jennyklyon says
Sí el acolchado es hermoso! (I used a translator web site-Jacquelin said that’s too bad because the quilting was so beautiful!)
Roxane Lessa says
Too funny. We’ve all had those doh moments.
Bobbi Bullard says
If only I couldn’t relate! Great tale!
Marcia says
Oh dear! I think I might know this person. Lol
Laura Conowitch says
How delightful of this person to share her ‘duh’ moment and make us all feel better about ourselves! It really is okay to laugh at ourselves. We should all ‘lighten up’ like this person!
jennyklyon says
Yes, I feel the same as all of you-I feel like I’ve made every mistake there is…until I make another one! And we just can’t take all of this too seriously.

Thanks for sharing this hilarious goof!
jennyklyon says
We’ve all got something like this in our repertoire of quilting!

Thanks for all the nice comments about my goof and my quilting. All was not lost, by the way, because after I removed the stitching that was holding the packaging to the quilt back, I just started a new line of stitching on one of the cut off thread ends, meandered around a little and then ended by going over another cut off end. It really only took a few minutes to secure all the cut off threads. The quilt is a pieced Christmas tree and it’s now finished except for sewing a lot of buttons onto the tree for the “decorations”. Hopefully you won’t find a photo here of my finger sewn to the back of the quilt!

Thanks for the update Luanne! I love that it was an easy fix for you. Hope you get your Christmas tree quilt done before Christmas. I love your sense of humor!
