Entwined

April 9, 2013

I love my yard! I take joy in wandering around it frequently. It’s not on the cover of Sunset Gardens, but it is full of beauty that changes as my plantings mature. We’ve had such an early spring that the butterflies have already arrived, along with dragon flies and hummingbirds. I love how over time, almost any kind of plantings will begin to grow into each other and create new combinations:

Entwined: Sedum and Succulent

The sedums are ready to take over the hen ‘n chicks.

Entwined: Sedum and Succulent

I try to get as much variety in shape, texture and color as I can.

I’m loving the dusty gray next to the burgandy.

Entwined: Lamb's Ear and Barberry Bush

The fuzzy, soft, gray Lamb’s Ear next to the thorned Barberry is one of my favorites.

Entwined: Sedum and Cacti

The cactus on the left has had lots of new growth in the last year-maybe he will overtake the pair of sedums?

Entwined: Sedum and Succulents

Love!

Entwined: Various Succulents

Like babies, sometimes they’re so ugly they’re cute.

Entwined: Shasta Daisy and Bush

The Shasta Daisies do so well here that they’re almost a weed-almost. I enjoy a stroll through my yard almost daily-it’s a welcome diversion.

I’ve been working diligently on a whole cloth quilt that I’m not ready to show yet and I’ve posted less often. I’ll be back soon!

What wonderful color and texture combinations. Just like your quilts. Love all of the succulents, wish I had good luck with them.

Oh dear, truth be told some of mine are “new” as the old ones got hammered in the continual cold last winter. I guess I’ll have to trot out there when frost is coming and cover them. I’m a Lazy Gardener after all! And I’ll bet YOUR garden inspires your lovely and lively quilts too!

Great photos! And I love the last photo with succulents — the green/red little one is crazy cute!

Love those garden plantings. My sedums are my faves, too! Those little daisies are always popping up to fill in the empty spots in my little garden. I am not a gardener….at all! I do real well with perennials, though! LOL! And geraniums seem to like me. Our Spring is going to last a while longer….mixed with Winter!! This latest storm is just North of us (north of I90) so the snow may be more ice/rain/sleet. This time of year is still a battleground!! Looking forward to seeing your latest project! Hugs, Doreen

I hope you have a spring worth waiting for! I’m not much of a gardener either-I have help with my yard but I like to add and move things. Those sedums-aren’t they fun?
