SoCal Adventure
I’m in the middle of my 3-guild 5-day tour of Southern California/Ventura County and it’s really been a lot of fun. This is a quick post cobbled together on my phone:
I had a very lovely home stay for 2 nights. Unfortunately my GPS lead me astray and a Very Tired Jenny checked into a Motel 6 instead of a Holiday Inn express by mistake. Sigh.
There was a lot of interest from the guilds in their meetings which has been wonderful.
I was touched by this scene!
Yesterday’s class was packed with 23 students! It was a challenge, but it was also fabulous to see that much interest in free motion quilting.
Isn’t this machine adorable? I’ve never seen such a machine before.
Wish me luck. I taught a workshop all day followed by an evening lecture and this morning I lecture again. I hope I’m still coherent!
With your energy and enthusiasm? You’ll be great, Jenny!
❤️
Thanks for your confidence Carol-it did go well.
That Elna looks like a new version of their flagship Grasshopper. I was always fascinated at the way the case becomes the sewing table. Looks like you had a great time.
I had never seen such a machine and I was intrigued. It all went well after all-thank you for your comment Janice.
I love that you are teaching people to quilt on their domestic machines. It’s frightening that so many are now “piecers” and not “quilters” because of the practice of sending everything out to longarm quilters. And about that little Elna, it is the first machine I had with built-in zigzag capability back in 1980s. Now I’m a Pfaff fan.
And I love to teach quilting on a domestic Martha! I think many are happy with their long armers but would like to quilt their own smaller pieces. So you know that Elna!
I used to have that machine, a SuperElna, that I inherited from my mom. I sold it to a friend, who uses it for FMQ a lot. Maybe I shouldn’t have sold it… Glad your classes & lectures are going well!
Wow, apparently lots of people know that machine Diane! Who knew? It was just so dog gone cute!
I still have my Elna that looks very much like that one. First Good machine I had and it set me up for my Bernina passion. I was especially fond of fancy stitches and bought every disc that was available.
Machines of our youth are like old friends-you look fondly upon them Cute story Sylvia!
Thank you for the encouragement and finding the nice stitching in my chaos!! I’m setting up my stack of quilt sandwiches and I am committed to the 21 day challenge! 20 minutes a day. I’m hoping I’ll have lots of nice stitches by then:) Thanks. I hope you enjoyed your trip to Camarillo and Ventura County.
I’m so glad to hear that Jill! You really do need to search out that nice stitching and revel in it. I would love to hear how your 21-day challenge went for you. I loved my trip to Camarillo/Simi Valley/Northridge-it was delightful!
Hullo! That Elna machine was made from 1971 – 1978, it is from the Elna Star Series SU.
My machine was made in 1967 – 1971, and is from the Elna Star Series Supermatic and I love it, still works like a charm.
Heather that is the coolest machine! Glad to know it still works well!
