Quilting in the Garden-2018
It was a beautiful day for the annual outdoor show, Quilting in the Garden at the Alden Lane Nursery in Livermore, Ca. There was just enough breeze to flutter the quilts and abundant sunshine. Viewers were sheltered under huge Heritage Oak trees-such a bucolic setting! Eleanor Burns was the Featured Artist and she did not disappoint.
Eleanor has enough personality to fill a room and the crowd could not get enough. This was about as close as I got and I couldn’t really tell what she was demo-ing. She had a whopping 119 quilts on display and I think all of them were at least twin-sized. It was quite a display and it showed the range of her design and color sense.
This just glowed in the sun!
Simple piecing, thoughtful quilting, great fabric choices, beautiful quilt.
Sweet!
There was also work by Gail Sims and Leni Levenson Wiener.
Glorious texture, love the subdued color choices.
I don’t know what all surface design went into this but I love the patina Gail created.
Leni is a figurative fabric collage artist primarily interested in human body language. Her ability to capture gesture is incredible.
Interesting way to display her work.
The Out of the Box’ers Friendship group had a fun display of small quilts.
What gorgeous color!
Texture!
Love the humor of the “Bell” challenge with the Taco Bell quilt!
There were some stunning Opportunity Quilts:
If you recognize the guild, please write me and I’ll amend to include the name in my post.
This hung at the show too. I saw it in person when I recently spoke and taught at the guild. This beauty is hand quilted!
More interesting quilts from the show:
Love the name and the quilt.
Love a good backing fabric!
Eternally gorgeous-a red and white stunner, beautifully quilted.
Simple piecing with Kaffe fabrics and you get this!
Charming.
Fantastic design and piecing, great use of fabric too.
A group quilt! Took me awhile to figure out how they did that.
One of my favorites-unexpected colors and design, fabulous quilt. I’m not much of a piecer but I’m looking at this and wondering how she did that.
What a great show, no? If you’re in the area, make sure you go next year! I’ll be linking up to Nina-Marie’s Off the Wall Friday.
