I forgot!
It’s bedtime and I haven’t written a post! I simply forgot.
But hey, at least my frig is full! It’s actually even more full than when I took that photo, and there will only be 5 of us!
It took a few days of this and 5 trips to the grocery store in 24 hours to fill that frig. But there was some trauma along the way:
I ran out of chocolate! So I hit Trader Joe’s at around 1PM the Tues before Thanksgiving and there were 4 lines to the back of the store. Even I will not go that far for chocolate. I made a special trip the next morning at 9AM and I was in and out in 60 seconds. But, I had to go almost A DAY without chocolate people!
We decided last year that we were tired of raclette:
It is a fun and sociable way of dining, one that we embraced for maybe 10 years.
For my youngest son it was all about the sauces!
So I asked (well texted actually) the boys and asked what they wanted this year and they chose, of all things, a Burrito Bar. Okey dokey, I can do that. The thing about a Burrito Bar is that there are LOTS of ingredients – I counted 21: 2 kinds of tortillas, Cojita cheese, Cheddar Cheese, Rice, Barbacoa, Shrimp, Pulled Pork, Sauces: Green, Red, Guacamole and sauce for the shrimp, Lettuce, Crema, Onions, Jalepenos, Lime, Cilantro, Corn Salsa, Blk beans and Refried Beans.
Now, do we serve this on the good china? Youngest son will certainly be happy with all the choices. But I’m not done. The chosen desert was, wait for it….
Yellow Cake with Chocolate Frosting! It is The Cake in the Lyon home and I’ve made it a zillion times. And NEVER has it stuck to the pan….until this year. So it is a little pimply looking but will still be good. I am only 3 days away from Weight Watchers weigh-in so this should be interesting.
And then there is this:
Yes, the football thing is a very important part of the day for Hubby and boys. Texas better win.
So I’m ready for the holiday, blessed beyond measure. I need to ring off and get ready for these goofballs:
I am looking forward to having my two sons and The Best Daughter-In-Law in the World. Happy Thanksgiving!

I am making the same turkey and dressing Thanksgiving dinner that I have been making for over 30 years. I can make it in my sleep. Oh, wait. I was up at 5:30 this morning so I guess I do make it in my sleep. Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for your blog. You are one of the things I am thankful for today.

Thank you Donna, what kind words! I hope you enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving. I’m game for the traditional Thanksgiving but the rest of the family is not.

Yum! What time is dinner? I’m for the burrito bar!

LOL Jan! We may be the only family in America celebrating Thanksgiving with a Burrito Bar!

Happy Thanksgiving, Jenny!
Trader Joe’s Organic dark is my favorite chocolate, too!! (I always have a bar in my purse wherever I go… never know when I’ll need a chocolate “fix”!) We did Thanksgiving on Tuesday this year, as that is when son and daughter-in-law had their day off… they both had to work on Thanksgiving. It’s pouring rain here today, so an early celebration was a win-win!

Great minds! Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving Peggy! Ours was wonderful – house full with both boys and my DIL. #goldenmommymoment

Happy Thanksgiving, Jenny! Didn’t realize that you had two sons, just like I do, although mine are younger (junior in high school and freshman in college). Isn’t it nice to have them both sleeping under your roof again for the holidays? Your Thanksgiving feast is so off-beat and interesting and I’m glad you made it through your temporary Chocolate Famine! :-)

And a Happy Belated Thanksgiving to you too! And yes, it is wonderful to have both boys back under the roof!! Our feast was much better than I expected and we are pondering our options for next year.
