The Global Quilt Connection’s Meet the Teacher event and finally, my 3 minute video!

September 3, 2020

Sooo, this is what I’ve got for you this week, a 3 min promo of my online teaching and lecture opportunities. It only took weeks to figure out a 3 min video!

I’ve also been working hard to get set-up on an online teaching platform that I can’t share yet. Once everything is finalized and it’s up on their site I will be excited to share! This way anyone can take my class and you won’t have to take it through a guild. They will be live online classes and I’m beyond pumped to try this.

I presented today for the Global Quilt Connection‘s Meet the Teacher event and it was awesome – teachers from all over, lots of amazing talent. And all offer online classes! You can find a recording of today’s Meet the Teacher already up here. And the previous week’s recording is here. It’s an awesome event put on by Sue Bleiweiss and Lyric Kinard.

So here we go, the video that the whole world has been waiting to see, lol:

I’d love to virtually visit your shop, guild or private group. And when things open up I would be delighted to visit in person. I’ve warmed to online learning and I’m personally excited about learning from teachers I would have never been able to take in person.

I make the experience as close to in-person learning as possible. In some ways, virtual classes are actually better – as your teacher I can see your work closer and faster, leaving more time for instruction. And you’ll be able to get a fantastic view from all 3 stations: me, overhead when drawing or demo-ing and at the machine when stitching.

Who knows, maybe next week I might even have some quilting things to show you! I’m sure this is the shortest post ever but this is what I’ve got!

I will definitely be linking up to Nina-Marie’s Off the Wall Friday where all the good links go.

Jenny, what a good video! Congrats on getting it done and so professional looking. Good luck with this new venture.

Thank you for your kind words Cory! It’s quite the challenge for me to go virtual but I’m getting there!

Thank you so much for thinking of the quilter’s who belong to guilds who have not gone digital.

You’re welcome Bev. I do hope your guild considers doing some things virtually. All the guilds I’ve talked to have been surprised at how much they like it. I’m going to try the live online platform class and see how it goes.

That was fabulous. I am sure you worked on this 3 minute talk for a lot more than 3 minutes. See you at Craft Naipaul virtually of course. Thank

Hi Lynne; It was a ton of work and it feels good to hear that it went well! Yes, Craft Napa, sooo looking forward to it!

Great job. It will sell many classes. Just don’t get too busy to enjoy your own quilting and do a little skipping.

Thank you for that Helen. I know, I am enjoying being home more and I was quite stressed before COVID.

Jenny, your video for the Meet the Teachers event through the Global Quilt Connection was great. I noticed many positive comments about your teaching abilities during the presentation. So glad you have turned the corner and are meeting the virtual challenge. I would love to take a class with you through the liveonlinequiltclass platform. Unfortunately, every time I try to open the link to the platform or directly to your class, I get a “suspicious site” warning from McAfee about possible viruses/other threats. Any idea what’s going on with this?

Thank you Diane! I don’t have any idea why that is happening, so sorry. I hope that does not persist. I will ask RaNae about that.

Hi Jenny, I look forward to every newsletter and am now signing up for your blog. I do admire how quickly you have adjusted to the new normal. Your enthusiasm really helps to keep me learning. Thanks a bunch (a BIG bunch)!

Val, that is encouraging to me! Thank you for reading and commenting. We all need to keep learning!

Hi Jenny, Will you be offering your great beginner class online too? I took it in Folsom just before Covid. I practiced for a bit and then made a baby quilt (first grandchild coming). I have the time and desire to really focus on free motion now but I don’t remember all those great little tips you had and I’m a little nervous to re-start.

Funny you should ask Wendy. I am seriously looking into a permanent beginner class on a major platform. They approached me and I think I may do it. It does take a lot of work to get it all set up, but of all the classes I’d like to have on a well-known platform, beginning free motion quilting is my first choice. You know I will keep you posted! Just dive in though with the knowledge you have now – find a great pre-printed panel or a charity quilt or quilt from the back! Then send me a photo of what you’ve done – I’d love to see!

I’m giggling Ellen, I wonder what I will do next also! Thank you for the encouragement!
