Thanksgiving and pies
The pies won.
They’re not made yet, so it came down to pies, or thoughtful blog post and the pies won.
I am excited about Thanksgiving this year, the last without a grandchild. Life will change and next year there will be a wee one to celebrate with – can’t wait! Both boys and DIL will be here, along with masks.
We are doing raclette again this year (photo from a few years back) which is perfect for social distancing.
We’ll have 3 tables and 3 grills! How bizarre is this world? Oh, and that little pile of quilts next to the raclette grills? It’s a Quilted Starter Kit for baby:-)))
It has been a spectacular fall here; let me share some of the beauty with you:
Two notes:
- If you’re not already signed up for my newsletter, consider doing so. I send weekly and it includes a link to my post for the week as well as other interesting and entertaining tidbits. It’s NOT all about me but it is very personal in perspective. I think you’ll enjoy it. Sign up on the main page of my site, at the bottom right.
- The virtual Houston Quilt Festival is next week! THIS is your chance to go and take the best teachers from all over the world. I’ll be giving the Opening Night speech on Th, Dec 3 at 6PM CST. Anyone who buys a general admission ticket can attend! I’ll also be a part of both Machine Quilting Forums where each of 5 top teachers share 20 min of condensed knowledge. It usually fills very quickly but this year you can attend! Link for all classes here.
The dough is waiting, the oven preheated, and the fillings at room temp. I have much to be thankful for including you. Thank you for reading.

Happy Thanksgiving! I hadn’t heard about raclette but it sounds delicious. I had a fondue once and it was wonderful. What kind of sauces do you use? All your nature photographs are so beautiful!
qskipad3 says
Raclette and fondue are similar in that it is a communal thing to cook your meal. Sauces: roasted red pepper, curry, chipotle, horseradish, chutney and harissa. Happy Thanksgiving to you too Shasta!

Congrats for being chosen for opening night gig at Festival! So happy to get to be there virtually. Gee–a quilt show without aching feet and knees–what a welcome concept!

Thank you Martha – it’s pretty intimidating! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

Next, we’ll need a raclette introduction. I had to look it up.

Giggle! I don’t even remember how I came upon it but it just appealed to me. Fondue-like in nature but a lot less messy. It became a family favorite. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
