Empty Spools 2022 – The beauty of Asilomar
Two posts this week, the other one is here.
Yes, same photo to start this post – it captures the beauty of Asilomar.
The Asilomar Conference Grounds are described as “A refuge by the sea”. It is a stunningly beautiful location, right off the beach in Pacific Grove, California. It is a protected parcel of 107 acres of a diverse, breathtakingly gorgeous and ecologically fragile restored dune ecosystem. Asilomar was built as a YWCA Leadership Camp built in 1913 and is architectural significant, with historic structures designed by renowned architect Julia Morgan between 1913 and 1928.
I stayed in “Hearth”:
The rooms are rustic and quaint, no TV or bank of charging stations for tech. But even the ceilings are a work of art:
I giggled over this sign in my room; remember, the accommodations are rustic:
I loved walking around at night; the historic lighting provided gentle illumination.
The Monterey Pines were majestic.
This BNB was right next to Asilomar. The weather is kind to beautiful plantings.
I walked the boardwalk daily:
Asilomar is right next to The Links at Spanish Bay and I KNOW Hubby wishes he could have come. The boardwalk takes you right next to the course.
I could have spent days viewing the ever changing tide pools:
My reward for being an early riser (no Photoshop!):
What a wonderful location to recharge, get creative and just enjoy the beauty.
I’ll be posting at:
Nina-Marie’s Off the Wall Friday
and
Finished or Not Friday.
