The River City Quilt Guild in Sacramento, CA always puts on a good show, complete with excellent vendors and boutique. This year was a banner year and it seemed to me the quilting was particularly good this year.
I am running out of time to create this post as I am preparing to go on a road trip to visit the Lompoc, CA guild. Unfortunately, my comments will be very brief:
A well deserved Best of Show went to this exquisite beauty:
And in no particular order:
Love the color and quilting.
Cool dude, must of been fun to make this.
Love the color and simplicity.
Amazing work.
By the Featured Quilter; beautiful applique and quilting.
Digitized; cool!
What a peaceful scene.
Great color for a fall piece.
She masterfully captured this scene in fabric.
Especially love the background colors. Beautiful scene.
Whimsical, love those colors and a great design.
Fun village!
The wonky and the color made me smile and want to be in Hawaii
Love the way the hearts both fade and show.
Fabulous graphic design and colorway.
I stood in front of this for a good while, examining all the details. Then I read the title. I believe you can sense emotion in a quilt.
Classic, graphic design, gotta love it.
Beautiful work so well done.
These must have been fun to make. These 2 caught my eye.
I liked the way the scene was cut up and put upon another piece.
Foreboding!
I loved this quilt; perfect piecing and such lovely colors.
How. Cool!
So pretty, many details.
Great use of fabrics, color and value.
Antique. This was beautifully done and preserved; silk with hand embroidery on each tiny piece.
Fabulous art piece; my eye traveled through and rested on details.
So fresh and happy.
Classic quilt and colors, wonderful quilting.
Oh yes I feel the sun and sea!

This coat tells a story; excellent design.
Love the way the piecing and colors work so well together.
Charming! Lots of great piecing in there also.
I felt the gloom; well done.
This was a group quilt, one of the best I’ve seen.
Expert use of color and fabric choice.
Ya gotta love an Amish quilt. I like how she made it a bit modern but honored the colors and simplicity of the Amish.
You had to see this in person; amazing.
So sweet!
Silk (?) background and 3-D objects made this a beautiful quilt.
Great show River City!

Dear Jenny,
Thank you for posting these photos from the River City Quilt Show. They highlight such great work, almost better than going to the show! I can see them in detail without any desctractions.
Also, I was happily surprised to see two of my entries. The last one in your blog,Oceanea Journey was made to honor my teenage father’s years (ages15-18 yrs old ) in the Pacific Theater of WWII.
The background fabric was hand dyed with Woad and the strips were both wool and silk, hand dyed with eucalyplus leaves.
