Pacific International Quilt Festival 2024
It was a huge change to move the Pacific Int’l Quilt Festival to July, and it may take a while for that to catch on. The show no longer fills the center, but it seems like it was about the same size as last year. I do think it was an especially good show; the level of talent seemed to be higher. Maybe that’s just me.
I do have “rules” for what I post or don’t post: I don’t post quilts that I have posted before, I usually don’t take photos of quilts in the winner’s circle as there are better photos online than mine, some quilts just didn’t show up well in my photo and, as always, I have some dud photos. This year I had my phone in “portrait” mode for a bit, which killed a few photos. I also don’t take photos of the Cherrywood Challenge – it is overwhelming to see a zillion quilts in a small space, each with some of the same fabric. My brain just cannot process that. And honestly, I get a little weary towards the end of the day and I may have missed some spectacular quilts.
So here we go, 77 photos, in no particular order:
Hand appliqued and hand quilted; exquisite details and embellishments.
Oh, that border….
All silk; oh, the glow!
Cyanotype.
Glow!
SO. PROUD! This is made by my student who wasn’t sure if she should enter. I encouraged her to enter and LOOK what happened! I am so happy for her. Gorgeous quilting on a domestic!
There were 3, very cool, unique creations.
Each rectangle was a puffy package.
The back is all red squares….for the less part.
Unbelievable quilting and detail; hand dyed silk Radiance, hand pieced fussy cut hexies.
Bonita designed the blocks representing her friends, and the quilt was assembled and quilted after her passing.
One of my favs – the colors, design, skilled applique, Prairie Points.
All blocks are the same structure, English Paper Pieced.
Silk!
From recycled shirts and includes details from the shirt, buttons, etc.
Hand pieced, a tribute to her Husband who has passed. I felt the emotions come out from this piece. Incredible beauty and expertise.
Modern Quilt Studio’s Summer Camp Mystery.
Dear Jane with fabric markers!
All silk, glorious.
Hand cut pieces for raw edge applique.
Ethereal 3-D.
So simple, design spot on, somehow I love this so much.
All silk.
That snowy feeling comes from a sheer overlay.
Slightest shimmer from sparkly threads draws you in.
Tula Pink + board games.
Brilliant design.
All from one fabric!
Perhaps my fictional Judge’s Choice? This is whole cloth and much more spectacular in person.
Note the quilting.
Hand applique and quilted.
I don’t care for the July date, but I will be there next year. This was a particularly good PIQF me thinks. I hope you enjoyed the quilts!

Thanks so much for posting all the quilts. I really enjoyed seeing them. I wasn’t able to attend. I would prefer the October date. Looks like there were many beautiful quilts.
Jenny says
I would prefer Oct also but I think they have lost that date for good.

Love the show. Don’t you think that the Sweet Sixteen flowers are like that butterfly vest we are making someday?
You must have ebeen over the moon with all the amazing quilting. Thank you for sharing.

Yes, indeed! It was a fabulous show and fun to see all the talent.

I love when you do your quilt show recap posts and always have to put the phone down and switch to the big desktop monitor to see the quilts better. What a fantastic variety of styles, all at such high skill level, too! A HUGE congratulations to your student on her blue ribbon; spectacular work.
Jenny says
So glad you enjoy it! It makes it all worth it. Yes, LOTS of great quilts this year.

I’m honored that you included my quilt (You Don’t Bring Me Flowers Anymore) among your favs. It was a particularly difficult quilt to make (emotionally). I so enjoy your recaps of shows.
Jenny says
You are so welcome Robyn. It is such a beautiful quilt and a tribute to your Husband. I felt emotion even before I read the explanation.
