I thought I would have more time to post before I left, but I’m in a rush. I consistently underestimate the amount of time it takes to complete a task. The table runner that will be the give away at IQF-Long Beach took way longer than I thought, but it was great fun to quilt. I went through 8 bobbins with skinny little Bottom Line thread if that’s any indication of how heavily quilted it is!
I am very excited about being one of the teachers at the Saturday Night Sampler! DH will be handling the retail side of things and I have 15 samples of how to make: “Fabulous Fills From Ordinary Objects”. Every day it seems I am finding a new fill motif inspired by some random object.
Last week I was in my local grocery store, uh, taking pictures of Kleenex boxes and various other items with pretty motifs. I sense out of my periferal vision someone approach and stand there just a moment before politely inquiring “May I help you?”. I started to explain what I was doing and then saw him looking at me like I was looney tunes. So, I quickly ended it with an authoritative voice-“I’m an artist”. That seemed to satisfy him. You know how those artists are….. What a giggle!
If you’re at Long Beach look me up! In addition to the Saturday Night Sampler I will be working the Studio Art Quilt Associates booth Friday from 11AM-1PM. I am so excited-gotta go pack!
