I’ll Be Teaching in Houston and Long Beach!

I’m excited to announce that I’ll be teaching in both Long Beach (July) and Houston (Oct/Nov) for the International Quilt Association! This is my dream, to teach in the larger venues to a diversified audience. They say be careful what you wish for….

Long Beach, 2012

They accepted all of my proposals so I’ll be busy and that’s what I wanted. Here’s what I’ll be doing at Long Beach:
-You CAN Free-Motion Quilt-all-day Thursday Aug 1.
-Friday Forum: Fabulous Free-Motion Feathers-The Easy Way!-Aug 2.
-Lazy Daisy Reversible Table Topper-Saturday, Aug 3.

And in Houston I’ll be teaching:
-You CAN Free-Motion Quilt-all-day Tuesday Oct 29.
-Machine Quilting Forum-Ordinary Objects Inspire Fabulous Free-Motion Fills-Th, Oct 31
-Friday Sampler-Easy, Fabulous Free-Motion Fills, Nov 1.
-Lazy Daisy Reversible Table Topper-Saturday, Nov 2.

Intro to Fearless Free Motion

I’ve been a fan of the IQA Festivals since I began quilting in the 1980’s-they run a fun, professional, diversified show with the best-of-the-best so I’m excited to be a part of the teaching staff for these venues.

Fearless Curves N Feathers
It is always my goal that my classes be fun, supportive and encouraging and my classes in Houston and Long Beach will be that way too. It’s really about the student, and I intend to give her the confidence and the skills she needs to go home and quilt her own work!

This will be such a different experience, to go to each venue and teach on multiple days. I’ll bet I will miss just hanging around the quilts and savoring each one. But I’m also confident that the thrill of helping other quilters quilt their own work will be even better. See you there!

Ah, Jenny, you brave, talented woman!! Your FMQ skills leave me in the dust — and that Lazy Daisy quilt is intriguing. Those classes are feathers in your cap — er, quilt — indeed! Bravo!

    • jennyklyon on February 22, 2013 at 6:35 pm

Thanks Margaret-and yes, bravery is part of this! They say there is a fine line between brave and stupid….! I am excited!

New follower in my reader. Saw this news on a friend of mine’s FB feed (Shannon’s) and I was very excited for you. I know the hard work you had to do to be chosen to teach at IQF. Seeing your beautiful FMQ work, I can see why!

    Congrats on reaching a dream!

    • jennyklyon on February 22, 2013 at 6:36 pm

Welcome Jean and thanks for following! It is hard work and a dream also-it’s nice to actually get rewarded for the work as it doesn’t always work that way!

What a pleasant surprise to read your blog today! Congratulations on being selected to teach in Houston and Long Beach. I have heard such wonderful accolades about the classes you teach in the Sacramento area. It will be wonderful to share your talents with a wider audience.

    • jennyklyon on February 22, 2013 at 6:37 pm

Thanks Kay-such kind words! I have a lot of work left to prepare for all of this!

Congrats, Jenny, so well deserved . Enjoy, it will be days with many long hours , I hope your classes have people like your last feathers one . but maybe on a larger scale. Houston, some years ago a lovely man from there, who was at NASA, stayed with us. Lovely southern accent too. Greetings from Jean

    • jennyklyon on February 22, 2013 at 6:39 pm

Thanks Jean-yes, it would be fabulous to have a class full of enthusiastic students raring to go! And yes, it will be long hours for sure. Houston is a lovely town, lived there for quite some time-the accent is certainly lighter there than say, west Tx.

Yes, but only until I make it into Quilt National, giggle.

  17. Marcia on February 24, 2013 at 10:36 pm

You have come a long way, baby! Remembering the first day we met at Meissner’s Folsom store when you taught Needle Felting with a machine. Your classes are always fun and informative. Now you will have an even bigger following. It is exciting for you and for those of us who know you, too.

    • jennyklyon on February 25, 2013 at 12:52 am

Cringe worthy moment for me! It was my first class ever to teach and it quickly became evident that all 3 of you were very experienced and accomplished sewists. Thank you for the kind compliments!

  18. Rebecca Grace on February 25, 2013 at 6:51 pm

Wow; congratulations! I wish I could be there to take one of your classes. I hope you have a ball teaching AND get to enjoy the shows as well.

    • jennyklyon on February 25, 2013 at 8:41 pm

Thanks Rebecca! It will be a tall order to be able to teach AND enjoy the shows but I hope to.

Thank you for your kind compliments Kim-I am thrilled for you that you are fearless now!
