Published and Prepping

October 23, 2014

It’s been a wild ride this week- finding out I will be published again and prepping for Houston! Last week I said I was giving all my brags at once-who knew? I lied:

I was notified this week that my images will be included in the upcoming book “1,000 Quilt Inspirations”. The book includes detail photos from quilters of all genres from around the world! I sent in several photos and I’m not sure which are included. The book is published by Quarry and is available here. I can’t wait to see my copy-WHOOP!

Yes, the photo is blurry-appropriate!
Yes, the photo is blurry-appropriate!

I’m also prepping for Houston. You may know by now that I’m a counter-I count stuff. I figure I have cut 4 bolts of Robert Kaufman Ultra Sateen, 5 packages of king size Hobb’s 80/20 batting, secured 1,392 safety pins, made (not yet bound!) 12 class samples and will soon print over 695 pages. I am so thankful that I don’t have any hand issues! I’ve spent WAY too much money shipping and paying for “2-day air” for items I underestimated. My bedroom has now become The Staging Area. And every other Houston teacher has a similar story!

I hope to soon be over the kitting/prepping hump and begin to think about those minor details like what I’m going to wear. I also need to make a Food Plan-sounds funny but since I’m teaching straight through for 3 days I’ll have very limited amounts of time to grab food. The lines for over-priced, unhealthy food are very long. This year I am going to stock up on food in my room and pack a great, nutritious lunch and snacks. Yeah, check back with me to see how that worked!

But I am so excited-this is the world’s biggest quilt show! Just pinch me. This year will be a whole new challenge with all my classes full and I’ll be teaching/presenting at 6 different times. The energy around Festival is fabulous and I hope to be able to have time to see the show and all the incredible pieces. I feel like I’m clicking to the top of the first hill of the roller coaster….here I go!

You should be tickled pink, pleased as punch, and totally chuffed at this slew of well deserved accolades. All that packing for Houston must have you rethinking your supplies list. There will be some lucky quilters in Houston at your classes. Those butterflies in your stomach as the roller coaster leaves the station are harbingers of good things to come.

      October 26, 2014 at 12:53 am

Oh I hope those butterflies are productive Joanna! And yes I am very pleased indeed!
