The Valley Quilt Guild’s 2022 Show

I’ve got two posts again, on very different subjects, other post here.

What a treat – a real live quilt show with no masks or distancing! It was my first and what a joy it was to visit the Valley Quilt Guild‘s show in Yuba City. The mood was joyous, as we were all waiting for this moment. The VQG has not had a show for 3 years (I think) and they had a bumper crop of beauty and creativity.

Please note, I may have missed some wonderful quilts. I talked to so many people while I was there that I may have missed a quilt or two. I know I forgot to take a photo of this year’s windsock, which is a tradition for the guild. Here we go:

This year’s Opportunity Quilt was made by their Featured Quilter, Karen Litvinchuk. Isn’t it spectacular? It had just the right amount of crystals to sparkle but not overwhelm.

Friendship, Sandra Torres; Qltd by Quilts by Cathy

Sunshine Sampler, Ginger Benham, qltd by Quilts by Cathy

Kaffe’s Pickle Dish, Kim Buzolich

Karen Litvinchuk was the Featured Quilter. I had a wonderful chat with her and somehow missed taking more photos of her quilts. It was a fabulous display; some of her work was done on a domestic and some on a long arm:

This is not raw edge applique, but deColourant. Collen is an expert! This was a remarkable quilt, made for her lineman son.

What a beautiful exhibit! I think I liked the collection of quail the best. The “Opportunity Quilt” is lovely but…what’s an “opportunity quilt”?

Opportunity Quilt is a raffle quilt. California does not allow us to call it a raffle. I know, isn’t that quail quilt cool?
