Pacific Int’l Quilt Festival, 2023, Part 2

See explanation of this year’s show in Part 1.

I just couldn’t pare it down to one post, so you’ll get 2 posts full of fabulous!

Here we go, in no particular order, with occasional comment:

Tiles, Tapestry and a Teal Trail; Tami Graeber

Feathered Ladies of Pablo Picasso; Rami Kim

Gorgeous silks and incredible details throughout.

Too Small Triangles #1 (Pink); Tiffany Taylor

This is another that would have been up for my fictional “Judge’s Choice”. The teeny triangles grab me and the simple quilting makes for a superbly edited piece.

GiGi’s Flower Garden; Eileen Crawford

Eileen is in my guild and I remember this charming quilt from our local show. She received a Judge’s Choice! The center is from a pattern, but that charming border with those teeny tiny Prairie Points is her design.

Valley Oak II; Mimi Ghauri-Young

Water BaLLet; Claudia Scheja

As a swimmer, I particularly appreciate this one.

Fibonacci Series #15; Caryl Bryer Fallert-Gentry

Swoon!

Desert Solitude; Sylvia Borschel Lewis

Spaceship, My Remembrance; Amella Fernholz

In Conversation; Fern Royce; quilted by Sue Fox

Up for my fictional “Judge’s Choice” award. It glowed, love the color, the mix of “tradition” with innovative design and the quilting is just perfect for the piece.

Tropical #4.2 (Tangerin/Green); Sue Fox

Symphony of Color; Susan W Smith

Blowin’ in the Wind; Marlyene Schwartz

Apparition X; Julie Rueben

Windmills; Mary Anne Fontana

Photo with some manipulation. Gets my “Best Use of Color” award.

Migrations; Linda Waddle

Butterflies are Free to Fly; Sally Fisher Schoemann

The Dream Catcher; Karin Tauber

Contemplate #9; Bonnie J Smith

Rusty Jane; Dena Angela Miskel

One of the best Dear Jane’s I’ve seen; unexpected colors for a Dear Jane but you gotta love rust and blue.

Tuscan Summer; Nancy Causey

Gene, I Found Your Umbrella; Susan Sanmann

Amber Wave of Grain; Karel Peer

Probably would have received my fictional “Judge’s Choice” award. So much speaks to me: the Midwestern in me, the colors, the edited design, the texture and the tiny little details like the “trees” on the horizon.

Rambling; Amy Mitchell

Not Your Grandmother’s Flower Garden; Linda LaPointe; quilted by Coffee Cake Quilting

So charming.

Standing Out in the Crowd; Lynda Stahl

Artistic Improv; Carolee Williams-Schuegraf

Sue’s Garden Party; Wilhelmina Vandevoorde

Absolutely exquisite applique and hand quilting. Beautiful color choices also and so much texture.

Spiraling; Eleanor Levie

Under The Thumb; Helen Blumen

Seeing Red; Sue VanVoorhees

Riotous Roses (Super Bloom Silks); Sue Fox

Color, whimsy, silk, the right amount of quilting.

Healdsberg Oaks; Priscilla Read

The scene is so serene. I feel the glow of the sun.

Jewel of the Sea; Marilyn Gourley

Baltimore Christmas; Pamela Rae Pfohl

Lovely hand quilting, piecing and applique with so many delicious details.

A Stone of Hope; Linda Syverson Guild

Uzoma Samuel

His work is so unique and he captures expressions and gestures with such skill.

The Weight; Deborah Ryan

It Started with a Rectangle; Jane Haworth

Stones Unturned #4; Anna Buzzalino

Sea Holly; Katherine T Reader

Rose of Sharon; Nan Blizzard; quilted by Claudia Chapman

He heard the surf roar; Ana Buzzalino

Chokes; Randa Mulford

Fabulous show, no? I hope you enjoyed it. Both parts will be linked at:

Thanks for a great show and for your commentary. I think you should give guided tours as you would enable the viewer to really look at and into the art of the quilt.
