Pioneer Quilters Guild Show – 2024

NOTE: I am not sure whether I will have a blog post or newsletter next week. I will play it by ear. Sign up for my newsletter here; it includes my blog post PLUS a lot of other goodies.

The Pioneer Quilters Guild show is one of my favorite local shows; there is always a wide variety of talent, a fabulous boutique, good food and good vendors. And, they had a chocolate vendor this year! Makes me wonder why other guild shows don’t have a chocolate vendor. I mean…quilters…chocolate; what a good match!

I noticed how much more elevated the quilting was overall over last year even. It just gets better and better. This is not a judged show, so there are no ribbons. I am not presenting these in any particular order. If I had unlimited space I would have close ups of many of these quilts. There is just so much beauty in the detail. Here we go:

There are some real stunners in this show. So exciting to see members enhance their piecing/applique work with quilting that enhances the image.

Yes, I was blown away by the level of quilting with a large number of quilts quilted by the maker

What an eclectic selection! The little doggie was so charming, and the “Flower Farm” reminded me of an antique cross-stitch sampler — both in its layout and in its colour palette. I admire *anyone* who can do a pineapple quilt — I tried one block and failed miserably! And the “Red Planet” has such a calming effect — sort of “zen”, if you get my drift. One question, though. What was the purpose of the large black “W” on “Why I love California”? Does it stand for “Why” or…? Just curious.

Glad you enjoyed the show Margaret! The “w” was part of an alphabet challenge.

The quilting was spectacular! I don’t take any credit, it was inspiring to see a whole show with fabulous quilting.

What a beautiful show with fabulous work! I could never pick a favorite. I’m wondering why it isn’t judged.

    • Jenny on November 23, 2024 at 10:22 pm

Lots of guilds choose to not have it judged. Some feel that it affects the comradery of the guild, some feel that it’s too costly.

Thank you for a visual tour of the quilt show! I came down with Covid upon returning from Houston, so was unable to attend the show. What beautiful photos of quilts!

Oh Bummer Mary! Hope you are better by now. I loved your “states” quilt and the story along with it. Be proud of your guild – it was the best show yet.
