New England Quilt Seminar – 2025
I am still catching up, going into the Way Back Machine. I taught for the first time at New England Quilt Seminars, Sept 21 – 25, 2025 and I loved it! It is David Taylor’s vision come to life; the mission of NEQS is to “present workshops by highly-sought-after professional instructors in a relaxed, inspiring environment. Small class size, comfortable work stations and individual attention for each student is paramount to our success.”
Set in Waterville Valley New Hampshire, the seminar is intimate and unique. Class size is limited to 12; I absolutely loved that! And it is the type of seminar that students have been coming back to for over a decade. I truly felt honored to teach there.
The setting is gorgeous! I had a hard time not posting MORE photos of the beauty. It was not even peak yet!
As you can tell, the seminar was located close to a lake. I took a delightful walk every single morning, rain or shine. The accommodations were welcoming and the food was great, buffet style.
All my luggage and boxes sent ahead arrived in time and I was ready to teach:
I had the pleasure of teaching alongside Gloria Loughman and Timna Tarr. One of the BEST parts about teaching is meeting and getting to know other teachers from all over the US and world. Gloria is an excellent instructor and an absolutely delightful person as well.
Gloria’s students spend the first day (or more?) making their own version of the class project to understand the process before they start their own project. I found this colorway to be particularly appealing.
Each teacher had their night to talk about what they do and invite attendees to view their classroom and their student’s work. I adore the work of Timna! Did I think to take a photo of the night I presented? No!
The goodies brought by students was worth the price of admission. I had never had Maple Cream before. Ohhhhh! And the Salted Caramels were homemade, just spectacular, the best I have ever had. Aaaaaaaaand, I have the recipe!

One of my students, Denine, brought along a quilted coat that she created and her friend quilted. Just salivate over this amazing coat. It has a silk base.
Isn’t that amazing? She also brought decor for my table:

A variety of some of my student’s work; I did not do a good job of getting photos, plus I somehow erased some. I love how many students wrote notes and reminders on their work for future reference:

I appreciate the patience of Sarah doing stitch outs of a zillion threads to find just the right ones.

Rebecca came into class a reluctant free motion quilter and left confident, having beautifully conquered this quilt!
It was just the most amazing experience. Just look at my students – you can’t fake that! We all had such a great time, learning so much and each of us left inspired and ready to try new things. Lucky me!

What a lovely venue. Can’t believe this retreat takes place in my “backyard” (about a 3 hour drive) and I have never heard of it. You and your class clearly enjoyed yourself.
YES! You would love it if there were an instructor of interest to you.
