SAQA Exhibit: Tranquility and Turmoil at Grants Pass, OR

I was thrilled to be in Grants Pass when SAQA‘s Tranquility and Turmoil at the Grants Pass Museum of Art was showing. It was top-notch! I lingered for a few hours and was able to talk with and observe visitor reactions. There was a lot of “How’d they do that?”!

It was hard to cull my photos down to just 30. Of course I had the usual group of photos unfit for sharing. It was a pleasure to immerse myself in the show and observe details. Here we go:

Flowers of the Vine, Frances Holliday Alford

Succulents, Aileyn Renli Ecob

Whooper Reflection, Judith Roderick

River View, Jette Clover

Flown, Wen Redmond

Translucency and Lavender, Judith Larzelere

This was a very subtle piece, one I enjoyed immensely. My photo does not capture it well.

I recognize a couple of those pieces from Paducah Quilt Week — Donald in Light was just mesmerizing in person; so much power and emotion conveyed through fabric and thread! And the realism achieved through raw edge applique of the foamy waves crashing on the beach in Morning Walk was amazing, too. I’ve never seen any of the others, though. You find the most amazing quilt shows! Thanks for sharing. I’m off to google the Doffer Boys!

Oh yes, the Doffer Boys, a tragic story. Glad you enjoyed the photos! It was such a good show.
