Quilt Whisperer: On-Line Learning Adventure

I recently took my first on-line class, Quilt Whisperer 101, with Carla Barrett. I am picky about what classes I take-I want to learn techniques to make my own and I’m careful to avoid classes that teach me to be like the teacher. This class was a fantastic experience. We learned how to design the quilting for a finished quilt top. My experience with the class was humbling (so much to learn), enlightening and encouraging. Wishing I was in Houston…

Yes, I’m wishing I was in Houston right now. My first quilt to hang in the Houston International Quilt Festival is there and I’m not. So why am not there for this big moment? Let’s see, airfare, $500 because I’m late in the game, hotel, $500 for 3 nights, food and all those nasty incidentals, $150, and come on, vendors, $250-that’s $1400-at least! Hey, I’m proud to be in the show but that’s a little pricey. The event itself is huge with over 1800 quilts and 1000 vendors. I’m just glad to be a part of it, even if it’s…
